I think Mogli said that perfectly. :) At one time I was depressed and my Dr added a tiny dose of an antidepressant in with my 3 mood stabilizers. I was so unstable with the antidepressant mixed in.
I don't know if Lamictal / lamotrigine is an option for you, but it is an anti-seizure medication that improves depression for many patients with bipolar disorder. It is not an SSRI antidepressant and doesn't cause mania, rapid cycling, destabilizing that some of the other antidepressants can cause.
Call your Dr if you haven't already and report your symptoms. When you get your appointment, ask a lit of questions, listen well, and don't be afraid to ask if a particular medication could work for you.
I asked my Dr if I could try a specific medication and it worked! I had just tried Seroquel (generic) and it was a total fail. My Dr was telling me the other medications on the market and I asked if I could try Seroquel XR (extended release) because I read here that some people with the same reaction I had on generic did better with the extended release version. My Dr was fine with me trying the medication and it did work to stabilize me.
