Is it normal with BPD to become overstimulated, agitated, or overwhelmed by bright sunlight?

Some days I can go outside and enjoy the sunrise.  Other days it is prue hell to have the sun on my face.  It instantly makes my head and eyes hurt and if I don't react quickly I am down for the count.  I can't function for a while and become exhausted. The first time it happened I was with my boyfriend in a convertable.  It hit me hard.  We had to put the top up and I wore BLACK sunglasses the rest of the trip.  I wanted to cry it was so aweful! Why does this happen?

Hi morning,

Quite a few members report sensitivities to noises or lights. Is it normal? I don't know. :)

Yellow flashing lights can be excruciating for me - I have no idea why.

i was just wondering if it was BP related or something else. Noices bother me too. I can't handle the printer at work sometimes so I use earplugs. Anything that is repitious makes me want to remove myself from the area. No one notices. :-)

haha, me too. :) I go to the gym in the middle of the night because one of the treadmills squeaks so bad. No one else seems to notice. I talked to the gym owner, he's in there all day and doesn't notice. (how?) I wear earplugs at work when I have a fan running.

It depends on my mood. Most of the time, it's not an issue, but other times these little things are intolerable.

A buzzing fluorescent light will drive me insane. OMG, can't tolerate that!

Good to know it is not just me! lol We had a recliner that clicked all the time. I gave it away. Hated that noisy thing.My friend has a son that who has autism and he can hear everything like it is on a megaphone. So they doen't do crouds or sporting events. He is three and is already having to deal with so much. Thank God he has a wonderful mother! she helps me on my down days too.

i find bright light and loud noises bother me. Not sure if it has 2 do with my BP 2 or BPD. But it does bother me.

hypersensitivity? I get that way, not as bad as some posters here, but bad enough. Clocks ticking, fans running, etc. Also smells. Smells drive me nuts.

I know! I feel like a vampire. The sun really bothers me. I much prefer the night. Certain smells bother me, too.
