DNA testing-??

Hello-

My son has been diagnosed as bipolar II  (though I am still not sure that this is the correct diagnosis).  He has been on various meds for the last year, none of which have given him great results and several of which have caused intolerable side effects (nausea, hair loss, etc.)

He has been reading about DNA testing, which supposedly helps to get someone on the right meds at the right dosage. 

Is anyone familiar with this and have the results been successful??

We really need to get him on the right track, as this is the third time he has tried to get through a semester at college and ended up not completing it!

The two companies I have read about are AssureRx and Genomind.

(And we are not pressuring him about school at all.  He is the one who has said each time that he wants to go back and feels he can handle it.  The only thing I stepped in about was encouraging him to try to get "incomplete" grades this semester, as he was doing well until there were only a few weeks left in the semester.  I felt that he had worked hard to get decent grades, and we shouldn't throw our hands up in the air at this point without trying to "salvage" the semester.)

No, he just feels like each semester he is feeling well enough to tackle school and is anxious to get his degree (in neuropsychology).  Unfortunately, once he gets to school, the side effects of the meds become too much for him to handle while trying to keep up with his schoolwork.  This last semester was the best he has done recently, but with only 3-4 weeks left in the semester, he was not able to push any further.
