yeah Call me Liz. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder 1- for approximately ten years, I an 58 years old and female. MY mother was bipolar though she is gone Now. My sister is also bipolar. So, I do ascribe to the idea that it is hereditary.

Living with this disorder can be difficult, sometimes more so than others but eventually we all need the help of others. I do hope you and your sister have a strong enough of a relationship where you can support one another.

For my own personal recovery, I have found a comfort zone that knows only what is yet to happen. I have learned how to fold up the umbrella of my past and go forward. In doing so I mark my life in shorter segments, no more than three days at a time. I refuse to grow older than how I feel deep inside. I know this sounds bizarre but it helps me stay balanced and at peace.

Hey Liz...glad you came to to the bipolar party. We celebrate and commiserate. It's a great place to share. What's it like having bp and growing up with a sister that has bp. What was your age of onset...early 20's or late teens?

I love your outlook and action steps on life. I want to copy you if that's ok. But I think I can only do two days ata time. The one I'm in and the next one. The third is always a bit hazy. I too feel young and act young because I feel that way! I still get stuck in the past but not for too long.

I am just learning to bury the past. I have nailed it to the cross and I don't want it anymore. I finally like looking forward but get depressed sometime if I can't find something to look forward to.
