Hi ByeByepolar,
Welcome to the forum
!
Everyone reacts differently when coming off Lithium. I think gradually reducing the dosage may lessen the side effects.
I hope you wouldn't experience the side effects. Do let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply UA,Psychiatrists ask short questions and expect long answers!Allied to my Bi-Polar I am also living with military founded PTSD.Over the years I have attended many psychiatric institutions including seven years as an out-patient in Izmir,Turkey.I have learnt that the only people that should see a psychiatrist are psychiatrists! After twenty years or so I began to question my medication(in my mind)One was making me very thirsty,I drank more,it kept me awake-or was it PTSD/depression that kept me awake?Or was it Lithium destroying my kidneys? And so it goes on,I have tremours caused by one drug so I'm prescribed a beta blocker?A vicious circle a treadmill that I can't seem to get off.
Any wise thoughts?

I'm just starting Lithium. Started 13 days ago, 900mg in a single dose every morning. So far so good.

lithium is hit and miss i think. i felt nothing on it or after. i live with nocturia, my water work issue, bar this the only kidney problem was just after my double pass. first or second day after surgery when i went into renal failure. agree lithium is toxic. but if we read up on all the meds we take, and i have been just about
all of them, then we all would be running around un-medicated and scared out of our heads to take a pill. i always follow dr's advice and that of my body. cheers.

I am also reducing my lithium because of kidney disease. It will be a slow process as I don't want to invite any depression. I know there is a likely-hood of relapse but I'm hoping that won't happen for quite some time. My doctor and I are working on a plan to deal with that when it happens.
Lithium 900
Lamotragine 200
Latuda 120
Best regards

Hi Kkidneys,
Welcome to the forum
! I am glad you joined us.
I hope things will go well with the reducing of the Lithium. It's good that your doc is working with you to create a plan.
Well, welcome again. I hope to learn more about
you.
