Hi ,
Just finished up four days of hangin up Xmas lights. And my home made 15'x3'. "MAR-E-X-Mass sign". Helicopter Santa and chimney Santa blow ups.. Lights down the drive and in all the Doug fur tress and shrubs. In the rain which is a shocking experience sometimes, as usual... Yikes.
My hands have psoriatic arthritis and curled sorta frozen closed and Duprytrends Contracture, yet I figured a way to keep up the light tradition just down sized a bit.my friends come up and help .. We drink a little hot buttered rum to keep warm..So... Goin in for surgery next week on two fingers & hope to straighten them out some. No biggie.
Next week end my riding buddies & I will take our group of horses to town & ride them thru the Mac Donald's drive in for our traditional hamburger buns for the horses and hot chocolate for the riders. We ride in the X-Mass parade with the riders & horses all decked out with S anta costumes and elves every year.
I luv my old Tennessee Walker he's 34 yrs old. And has arthritis really bad .He is on meds and on anti inflam diet too. But he has done this parade every year for over 22 years. He loves the bands and kids all the attention. He loves to do it and we'll both be stiff jointed for days. It's a small town parade only a few blocks.
I don't know how much longer I'll have him, so I want to be with him as much as possible. Keep his life happy too! He's a people lover. He's taller than I am at the withers, I need a stool to get on him now. I used to hop right up but theses times change as we adjust. He's my gentle giant.
Ooo-o I pray for no rain. Nothin worse than ridin on a wet stinky horse, & diggin out the slickers. I know I won't be able to ride much longer. I have two hip joint replacements and other back issues. Bla, bla , bla....I hate getting older...He is so brave and has given his all to me for many years. It's a bond hard to explain,he's funny, lots of personality & he really keeps me centered.
Friends come up just to visit him..not me....He has taught me a great deal about
myself over the years......He been my shrink for sure....and cheap too! As there r so many riders like myself who lost their horses and can't ride any longer . Yet they still come out and help us.
If anyone is interested....He's a smooth gated breed, a long wheel base sort of speak, so no jerky uppity bouncy, smack down in the saddle. The smooth glide side to side easy-chair gate.
He and I have been together almost as long as my partner....that's a lot of scooping folks. It's gotta be a labor of love. He plays ball and loves the barn kitties. He nuzzles his nose in their fur ever so gently.
So this will be our last year. It's getting to much for us both. We both will ride back home in style in the horse trailor.
So that's my story and I'm stickin to it....lots of eggnog in ouR saddle bags some straight some spiked...LOL
Hope u are all have a splendid week-end.
