My husband is on cymbalta and lamotrigine for a few years now. It seems he has built up a tolerance to them, has great days, and then horrible days. It seems as if this is weekly. He has met with his dr about changing medicines, but it is very hard to come off cymblata.. I am havin. A very hard time coping with the sudden on again, off again, as he was very different a year ago before there changes came a place in his personality.

Advice please?

Welcome to the forum!

There are side effects associated with coming off Cymbalta. Is he coming off slowly or cold turkey? I would suggest your hubby be sure to let his doc know about the wide effects he's experiencing.

Counseling may help him learn some coping techniques during this time. It may be helpful to him. IT sounds like you're already by his side supporting him. This is nice :-)

lamictal is a great med. sounds like he has pooped it. -or adding a kick butt a/d like Escitroprolam in combination might help. Cymbalta is hard in weaning. I've done it. bloods can be done for lamotrigine levels. there may be room to increase. lamictal is very much a background mood stabiliser, and works well with adjunct anti-depressants. hope this helps. THERAPY!!!! it is very helpful. the trifecta is the best. meds, therapy and coping skills.

hello,im joe,i have bp been on meds on and off,the only steady one I have been on is Lexapro,and a few times a month I take zanex to help me sleep.works great.i hate meds,and their are side affects,and damage to the body parts in time,you also get tics,twitches gring your teethe ect,i have learned to use my mind,its not easy,but the med,games the doctors play are cruel,look at the sideafects and long term outcome,not good,hope hubby feels better,im 55 and at times its hard

I agree that meds do have side effects but they also help us. Mindfulness is also helpful in Bipolar. I hope you are doing okay and coping well.

agree,i have tried to get off Lexapro,brain zaps after a month off the med.had to go back on.i didn't go cold turkey when I stopped taken it.the Lexapro was giving me bad stomach problems,i didn't know that side affect until tears latter.i knowi need to be on somthingmill flip out without being on something,i don't want a drug that makes me feel like a somby,im sick of this bp
