My son died recently from a heroin over dose! I am a severe bipolar and went off the deep end and haven't been able to get myselfback up completely. I recently had to resign from my job that I went to colege for because it was high stressed. (nursing) I have changed and everone say we want the old donna back, but she died with my son. They have been changing my meds so I don't know whats going on and have gained 11 pounds. I went into the hospital 2 times in less to a year. I hate my life and don't even want to work anymore. I have gone to a couple of support groups but did'nt help. What should I do to ease the pain?
P.S. My crohns disease is out off remission and I'm in pain body and soul.
Help!

I'm sorry to hear about
your son.
You do have a difficult situation, and I have been in those myself.
If you are a bipolar, were you on any medicine when this began?
Are you on any medicine now?
As a bipolar myself, I am on lithium for the mania and Mirtazapine anti-depressant for the depression.
It helps me get through some difficult times.
I've had to change jobs, also, to get into some lower stress situations.
Are you seeing a doctor for the bipolar?
How about
for the Crohns disease?
Have you seen this website's Crohns disease forum?
Are you in physical pain from the Crohns?

Hi maggiern,
I am sorry for your loss. Death is something hard to deal with for some people. Grief takes time as well. Everyone deals with it differently. Give yourself time to grief if you need to.
Besides support groups, do you attend any therapy sessions? Individual therapy can be helpful.
I practice mindfulness and journaling. Doing simple things to distract yourself such as exercising, watching a funny movie, listen to nice music can help to.
I hope you feel better soon!

I got through the anniversary of my sons death two years, but my husbands little sister died the next day. What a mess! I am now going to al-anon due to my husband being an alcoholic and I'm hoping that it helps me deal with addiction better I've had so much addiction around me over the last 37 years that I want to learn how to help myself. I also go to therapy and see a physiatrist. got off Wellbutrin so I am feeling better now.

You said, "I've had so much addiction around me over the last 37 years that I want to learn how to help myself."
I learned how to help myself when I started feeling positive that I could solve my problems.
Do you feel like you're going to get through this?

Al-Anon is helping but I feel angry a lot of the time and I don't particularly like this feeling! I'm off Wellbutrin now and I feel clear minded for the first time in a long time
On just Prozac and Lamictal, Trazodone for sleep.

Hi maggiern,
Condolences to you and your family. I am sorry to hear bout your sister in law.
This is good news. Glad you are feeling a bit better now that you are off the Wellbutrin.
Happy to hear you are attending AA. Group, therapy and meds will help, but sometimes they take time.
