Was that previous job, high paying? Are you taking a substantial drop in pay?
I know when I was trying to stay in my line of work, I did not want to get out of it, for I knew it wouldn't be good. So, I have an idea of what you must be going through.
You say, "Its a mess there, I can't handle it." Are your nerves playing a part here?
And, "Not even sure it would cover all my bills, but its this or not working at all. Please tell me I am not alone....has anyone had to quit work from health problems?"
There is a whole world wrapped up into that.
1. "Not even sure it would cover all my bills"
2. "but its this or not working at all"
3. "Please tell me I am not alone"
4. "....has anyone had to quit work from health problems?"
It sounds for one thing like you are very wound up, which I've been from bipolar (and not diagnosed or on meds) and my thinking and worrying is going very fast. In that state, there was no solution, for it was my state which was the problem. And until I got that taken care of, there, again, was not going to be any right solution.
The right diagnoses, bipolar, was a huge step, so that the right medicine, Lithium for mania and Mirtazapine for depression, could calm me down.
But then you're taking a pain medicine, also, which could be a problem. But it does help with the pain, so you might not have a choice.
You say, "I am scared I am doing the wrong thing here, I mean who wants to go from a nice paying job back to what I made in high school?"
I've been there, in that, there are so many issues, trying to make decisions is very difficult. If you don't take the job, no money to pay the bills. If you take the job, will you do OK, in your state?
What I finally had to do was go on disability. Which took many years, and I had to get a doctor to help me. So you could consider putting in for disability, then perhaps trying to work as much as you can at the same time.
By doing both, you will have started the process sooner, and, be finding out to your satisfaction and the that of the disability people, if you are able to work.
That is just a suggestion. You will have to make the final decision as to what you do, based on data you have and your views.
One thing is to take various jobs to see how well or poorly you do, in addition to the job itself.
As for disability, there are also disability lawyers who take a certain percentage, they'll tell you what the percentage is up front, and there is a law which keeps it to a reasonable amount, I do believe.
