Seroquel XR

Last night I took my first Seroquel 50 mg Extended Release pill.I could not function this morning because my brain was in a fog.Spent AM in bed or in lazy boy.It says on the bottle ,do not crush or cut in half but my next dose will be cut in half . I took the pill at 22:00 hres last night and It is now 13:32 hres( over 15 hres ) and i am just starting to come out of it . Half the pill will be around 25 mg that will hit me in one shot but I will have all night to get 25 mgs instead of 50 mgs .A lot of people cut the regular 50 mg pill in half so what s the big difference. ? Next month I will ask to have the regular 50 mg and I will cut them in half because 50 mgs is too stong for me.If need be ,I can always take the whole 50 mg later on.Anybody out here that has been through this ?

Karen,if you check up on Drugs .com it tells us that with the regular Seroquel you start off with 2 pills of 25 mg per day.That is a total of 50.mgs. per day and you can go up to 800 mgs per day .I do not see the problem if I cut it in half or in three. I can t get too much of a dose by cutting it .The difference is , that I will get around 25 mg in one shot (same as the regular ) instead 50 mgs over a longer period of time. By the way it s been 20 hres since I took it and I still feel hung over.I told my Doc that I would give this drug a good try out (two weeks ) and I will but not feeling like I am now..The only two options left are Abilify and Risperdone or ( going on Lithium ).Thanks.

I wish you well. I have taken risperdone and abilify and I liked abilify the best. Never had lithium. I know it is hard choosing what medication to take. But with these types medications at least you find out pretty quick if they are going to work or not. Be careful.
