I don't think bipolar disorder can be cured. But it can be successfully managed. Take it from someone who knows. My issues with manic/depression have been managed quite well since 2011, I'm glad to say.

I too am managed, many yrs now. I live with mixed mood bi polar.
Support and medication and a good psychiatrist is a must. Many coping tools are avail.
Distraction , music for me, I relax this way and in being open. HT

I've been in a mixed state before as well in the past. So I know what it's like to have symptoms of mania and depression at the same time.

Another term for mixed state is mixed bipolar state.

Shrinks have like 40 different terms for the same disorder.

Yup. Bi polar mixed mood best describes me. I cycle thru them...less rapid cycling these days... More in terms of mixed morning afternonn evening. More aggitated and manic in tje evenings. HT

In 2011, I was put on psychiatric medications that made my mania worse.

My psychiatrist in the hospital back then told me that, in his opinion, I should never go on stimulants ever again. He said that a lot of other psychiatrists would disagree with him about this. But that was his opinion.

So he put me on Clozaril, which is a mood stabilizer. And it's allowed me to manage my bipolar disorder quite well ever since then, I'm glad to say.

Very good. Clozaril it's use is in changing the chemical balance...esp woth affective disorders. It's main purpose is to treat schizophrenia that has had no success with other treatments.

It is ahowing good efficacy in thr bi polar cohort.

It's interesting how meds help...i mean like anti epeleptics as a mood stabiliser. Largactil for severe hiccups!! Etc. It's about what works, that is what matters.

The Clozaril I take is also an anti psychotic as well as a mood stabilizer, although I've never been out of touch with reality before.

Bipolar can be treated with both medicine and therapy working hand-in-hand. However, medication must be managed by your psychiatrist.
