Hi Peeps!!

Just wondering if there is a place in the site for original poetry?? I have written many I am sure A LOT of people here can relate to.  Here's one:

Living in insanity,

Abondoned by society,

It often makes me wonder

If it's worth it after all.

Disregarding golden rules,

Manipulating stupid fools,

And trying to remember

The dreams I can't recall.

Unsure of my direction,

In life's big misconception,

Trying hard to find the strength

I know that should be there.

Crying forth in desperation,

To an empty congregation,

Awakening to comprehend,

They really just don't care.

Well, there it is..I know it's a little 'down', but it reflected my feelings at the time.

Does anyone have any of their own they would like to share??

I know most of us has some pretty strong feelings, positive and negative, at times and need an outlet for them. Poetry is mine.

Good thread Renee,
I've got a whole notebook stashed away somewhere. I think you'll get alot of responses on this one. Bp's have a tendancy to be very creative. I know this is not the first poem posted. It's very touching by the way. Really struck a chord in me.

Very good Renee! I too have hundreds of poems I have written over the years...mainly either in the quake of mania, or in the depths of depression. LOL I couldnt carry a rhyme in a paper bag otherwise :p Would love to see more of your work :)

Oh... here are some thoughts I collected in a low point :) ....... sorta of my description of how Bipolar affects me, and how I view it in my life.

"It is my reflection, yet not mine at all by choice.
As I stared into the mirror, suddenly I heard its voice.
Then, as though I quickly vanished…There I stood within its skin.
Now, I don’t know where I start and where this reflection ends.
As a demon, it has taunt me…made its Will perfectly clear.
Yet, I know somewhere inside clings a lonely child in fear.
Her face, I don’t remember…for it’s been too long to see.
And ever since she ran away, I cannot see… yet here her breathe.
But sometimes I hear her crying… in the dark and silent night,
I only wish she would come closer… from the darkness into light.
Though I never again may know her… for someday she’ll fly away,
Then I’ll only be a reflection within my thoughts, each on display."

Great work Kimmy! I'm glad someone followed my lead. I wish we could get more people to share their work. I know there's alot of us bi-polar's out there with alot of creativety.

Okay, heres some of my pitiful stuff


I am the memories of the past
I banked the fires of your heart
When you were young, and but a child.
And when the feeling grew too strong,
Still I was there to right the wrong.
I find a brightness in the dark,
And a hope in every hopeless situation.
I let you take the lead
And yet I am the master of the dance,
Your every thought do I enhance.
You beg my presence, yet curse me,
All in one breath.
You embrace me fully, yet call me fiend.
I am bold, but meek; the eagle and the dove.
Some name me fate, most call me love.

lonesome dove
gets its wings from eternal love
rises soulfully to the skies above
carefree
for he is to young to recognise any pain

swift red fox
breathes creativity
grasps the hand of time tightly
and spins it slowly as the day unfolds
carefree
for her instincts help to brighten the darkest of nights

human being
powerful and strong, yet scared and timid
often mistakes love for the media
puts to bed a novel ideal of what he is missing
and awakes in the morning to face the same day



kinda lame.. I know
its kinda a version of a poem I wrote a while back.
what I could remember at least.. cause I don't really have it.
I liked this post and wanted to bring it back up to the top.
hopefully people keep adding stuff, its a great idea.

Wow all of these poems are so good.  I dont have any talent in writing at all.  I was always more of the artist type and like to draw and paint when I am depressed or upset.  Some of my stuff is really dark and angry looking.  My mom writes poems though and has had some published.  She also puts them on authorsden.com, I dont know if anyone here has ever checked it out.  It is a pretty neat site for poetry.   Anyway, keep the poems coming there great......

I guess lyrics can kinda count too..
I never wrote any music to any of it but its what I wrote during the hardest part of my depression:


there's a cold grasp around my spine
I can't speak a word, I'm overwhelmed
waking up the familiar child
inside an old, withered corpse

the time is dull now, same as yesterday
the air is arid, dried the leaves to yellow
and the wind is calling my name

its so lonely when you don't even know yourself
my mind is growing weary
into shades of black and blue


I also added kinda like a footnote to that song..
"I don't mean to sound so down,
but the sights I've seen are enough to overwhelm the strongest of men."

lol this all sounds so lame to me.
but its all in good intention.

Wow...this is so awesome! EVERYONE poems are really good! I have always used poetry and writing to express my feelings since I was a young child. I just recently wrote my first poem after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder last night about depression. I will post it later. It was a GREAT idea Renee to post poems! Is is true that people with bipolar disorder tend to be creative and writers? I have heard that many artistic people are bipolar...where's the link? I hope that everyone takes advantage of this wonderful posting area to share our feelings through poetry or other writings. I'll post some of mine sometime.

fears overpowering.
Your complex dreams just slither down
drowning in rocky pools,
or smashed and dashed on peril's course,
divorcing prematurely thoughts

I just had a poem published not too long ago. I'll have to dig it out. Otherwise I've got a collection I put together a while ago. Good one about getting stopped by the cops while making out in a parking lot... I'll edit this when I get home from work.
