have you tried abilify?

Has anyone tried abilify, and for how long? Did you gain weight, did it work, any unbearable side effects (ie akathisia)?

Any input most helpful!

If akathisia is what i think it is, that was my major problem. For the first two months it was like a miracle and then the therapeudic dose hit my system and I couldn't sit, concentrate etc. I just paced and paced, to sit made me feel like I was going to crawl right out of my skin. PLUS, major panic attacks. I couldn't even drive. Sure wish it had stayed like it did for the first two months.
On the up side I lost weight on it. and it worked great for awhile. Maybe you won't have the bad effects I did. I'd even be willing to try it again if I thought they could control the side effects.
Btw clic, just curious, did you have a different user name at one point? No big deal, just wondering, thought you might be someone I'd talked to before.

Yup, I was under nrs2b before (gues regular member status gave that away!) I am no longer a nrs2b, but rather a nurse now, but would like to keep a low profile, and at certain points I gave away identifying factors about myself, so I am now clic. Paranoid? Yeah, little of that too!

Anyhow, haven't seen psychnurse and a few others in forever...or Putter-where is everyone?

Psychnurse and Kittycat disappeared at the end of last year. Putter is still around though.
I'm kinda paranoid about the whole internet thing as well. Very careful what I say anywhere online. I let my 14 yr. old daughter get on aol but she doesn't even know her own password to sign online. That way she can't do it unless I'm aware of it and the only internet available computer is in the living room. I'm afraid she'll be on while I'm not home and end up in some horrible chatroom.

my daughter was on Geodon and then she went to a partial program and they put her on abilify...worse thing they could have done, she got so irritable, nervouse, shaking legs all the time, paranoid, and totally out of control with some issues...put her bac kon Geodon and I still dont think it is the right drug.

I just started this drug on Tuesday and the first night I was very sick.  Then that followed with two days of hiccups.  Things are starting to quiet down.  Today though, I was have some very strong mood swings.  I hope I balance out soon.  I was just diagnosed with bipolar II.  I hope it helps me lose weight instead of gaining as I have heard from others.
