Right now, I just had one before lunch, and I'm feeling quite warm and fuzzy in my head. I feel safe if I dare say that. I almost NEVER feel safe... but... I feel content, fuzzy and rather safe.
If this is what this medicine does, and I don't get too drowzy or have any bad side effects, I will definitely be able to cope for another 2 weeks before I move out, and for however long it takes to see the psych team (hopefully before I move).
Ahh diazepam, thy name is fuzziness.

Hi hun,
I always get a bit fuzzy and spacey and safe-feeling the first few days of being on my meds, but that should just be the early side effects. As they really kick in you should still feel more in control and safe, but you won't have the fuzziness. I have to say I always enjoy that fuzzy phase a bit because it always comes when I've been wit's end enough to restart my meds, and the fuzzy is such a relief -- like being cocooned from all the harshness. But it's also lovely when it passes and you feel more like yourself.
I'm glad you feel the same way as me about
this feeling!
Warm fuzzy hugs to you.

Well 1 tablet definitely put me to sleep yesterday afternoon and last night.
I'm going to take half a tablet morning and lunch today and one in the evening to help sleep again.
Let's see how this goes!

How did I ever cope?
It's true what they say: you don't realise how bad something is til it's gone.
The diazepam has removed all of those tiny, stupid little worries about
STUPID things.
Like being terrified if the door bangs in the wind.
Like being terrified that spiders are going to come and eat me.
Like being terrified all the time about
EVERYTHING.
Not going downstairs because I was scared.
Going out to town with my boyfriend and clinging to him the whole time.
It's gone!
The mania and depression are still there - but I'm able to concentrate on REAL worries for once, not get overwhelmed by stupid anxiety and panic.
I can't believe how bad I have been recently!
Now, I can actually breathe and feel safe.
Every now and then I actually catch myself searching around my mind for the fear. Where is it? It's not there!!!
This is the best medicine I have ever been on!
And they're going to take it away.
It's only temporary, to stop the major anxiety whilst I wait for the assessment and get onto a proper bp treatment program.
But I don't want to lose this.
BP treatment will treat the BP, will it treat the anxiety?
I've never felt this happy and safe before!
I really, really don't want to lose it!
So I'll explain all of that to them when I have the assessment and hopefully they'll find something else for the anxiety, cos I don't think you're meant to be on diazepam for long.
And for now; I'll enjoy it.
The fuzziness has gone, Rosie you were so right! I just feel safe.
And happy.
As long as my mania and depression aren't being triggered, I'm so so happy and calm.
I can't believe I have never felt this way before!
I am SO thankful to that doctor for recognising that I was full of anxiety and giving me these tablets!

Oh Djonma hun! -- This is so great! Also, knowing that this med has worked for you so well will help your new doc work out which meds will be good for you. I know diazapam is seen as a short-term solution, but the key is that it's helped you crack through the anxiety and has given your mind the break from that that it needed. You can probably take meds that are more designed for maintenance once the diazapam's got you to this stage. Or maybe they'll give you a prescript
ion for these pills for "emergencies". I don't know -- but I do know that it's fan-bloomin-tastic what they've done for you and that all of this is going to be really helpful for formulating a treatment plan and helping you with the next couple of weeks and the Big Move!
I tell you what though, all these good experiences -- helpful NHS Direct and doc, and meds that work -- you're on a roll! Long may it continue!!!
Hip-hip-hooooooray!
Rosie x
