I've been waiting for my counselor's office to get back to me about insurance issues so that I would know to make an appt with their nurse practitioner or find a psychiatrist and get me re-evaluated and on some meds. I've been very antsy today, can't sit still, can't keep my mind on what I'm doing, going in a million different directions, then getting mad because I forgot to do something. Well at 4:30 pm I remembered to call them. So, I find out that it will be best for me $$$ wise to go see the psychiatrist. So by the time I call my insurance to get some in network providers and get finished talking to them it's 5:15 and all the offices have closed for the day. I'm trying to tell hubby this on the phone and he can't keep up with the conversation. I'm going off on my own little tangents about stuff and then bounce back to what I was originally talking about. This has him flustered and upset which of course makes me upset. I told him to keep up or be quiet. So anyway, I left a message at the psych's office to call me tomorrow so that I can get going. I can't just sit here and wonder what's going on. I guess I'd better go try and get some sleep. I have a math test tomorrow that I'm not ready for, couldn't keep my mind on it anymore, it was all starting to blur into each other and I couldn't remember which rule applies when blah, blah, blah. I'm not tired but if I don't try, I'll hate it in the am. Wish me luck on both the test and on getting my appt. I'm sorry the majority of this doesn't make sense. *blah*

Well, I'm *really* glad that money-wise seeing a psychiatrist is the best option because it's the one you needed!! Really good luck with getting that sorted -- and remember to chase if you don't hear back soon!

Your fast talking and irritability sound like mania symptoms to me -- another reason why it's important to get this process started soon. On the plus side, it's always easier for pdocs to diagnose bp if mania is presenting because that's what distinguishes this condition from other forms of depression. And of course mania doesn't have to make you feel "great": there are "euphoric" manias (where you feel great) and "dysphoric" ones (where you have all the energy and fast-talking, etc., but don't feel great, or even feel bad).

Good luck also with that test. Do you have a system at college for taking into account special circumstances? I work at a uni and we have a system like that here. What you're going through would definitely count: a student fills in a form and provides any documentation to support their case and show the period affected. As a way of levelling the playing field again, we then allow them another go at the assignment once the crisis has passed. You might want to look into this -- especially in this test counts towards final grades. Just a thought -- may or may not be relevant here.

But dont worry, perserverance will become your new best friend, and you will like and feel comfortable with the new you. Chelle, i feel like you wrote what i was feeling, am feeling and have been feeling.  uor hubbys should join a forum too.  i thought i was alone in my own chaotic thoughts, worries, dilemmas, diversions, and everything else that has to do with bp.  until i found this site.  you have helped me, actually every post i read has been helpful.  i look forward to a new support system in this forum  good luck with your test

Hi Rosie, and every one!  thank you for such openness and warmth.  i will check in every day or so, i need this group.  when i was detoxing off of methadone, paxil, and valume i was in a womens group and a living in recovery group, that met weekly.  that was over 5 yrs ago, and now i am so isolated with my three babies.  this forum is truely a life line.  i could not have found it at a more crucial time in my life.  thank you and see you tonight.
