Number 1 Method: Chemical Engineering Book on Polymers....
Provided you don't want to learn something useful, exercise alot and maybe try a melatonin supplement. I find it non-addictive, and it helps to catch a few good sleeps to break down a maniacal journey.
If you're really screwed, try to do something useful... seriously, lying awake is frustrating and makes everything worse. Just don't waste time doing something to waste time that is meaningless. You're more prone to do this when flying up there, and forcing yourself to do something deemed useful might make you tired.
When I'm racing, nothing can stop the wave or impending crash. However, if you can still catch some Z's it will bring you down a bit to avoid psychosis and p*****g people off too much. My natural instinct is to just roll with it and this is a bad decision. You have two scenarios here....
1. You soar high quickly, get wild and out of control.... maybe embarass yourself, creating actual long term problems to deal with when depressed in the near future....
or...
2. Slow it down, and catch any sleep in attempts to regain control, avoid stimulants, and ride a prolonged wave of preferable mild mania or hypomania.... you don't blow out your engine but let it get overheated on a long trip.... Try to really get an appointment scheduled with your psych before you get out of control. This is the hardest part during this moment, but it will be rewarded greatly later. Your depression won't be as horrible if you don't have a terrible manic experience, with real impending consequences to deal with later. The faster you can slow this down, or end it without full blown mania, the better you will be in getting back to stability later. If you're hitting days or weeks without much sleep it's going to be over soon anyway... but more than likely in a bad way. Good luck... but atleast you realize that you're pretty screwed right now. Maybe you will still hit the tree near the side of the road on this corner but will be able to brace for impact and slow down the car.
