On behalf of us all of us here at the Healing well...What a JERK he is!! You have my permission to be angry as well as sad! I don't blame you one bit for considering to find a new doctor!
GEZ...my son's Doc is "cold" too. I've talked to my son's Psychologist about him and he says there are so many jaded money hungry Psychiatrists out there it's rediculas!
And then you're suppose to carry on this hunt when you're depressed enough as it is!! That too sucks!! This whole illness sucks...:-( Now you have to pick yourself up and move on and HOPEFULLY find someone who cares. But if you're like my son, all you want to do is crawl under the covers and hide from it all.
I've found that our Psychiatrist is the doctor we argue with. Yes,I really have to get tough with him, he too is "cold-hearted". BUT our PSYCHOLOGIST is the doctor we tell our woes too. He then encourages us on how to get tough with the other doc. LOL. Sometimes you have to accept their roles for what they are and don't expect your PSYCHAIRIST to care as much as the other does...
Can your husband or someone else go in with you and "get tough" with this guy?? The thought of my son having to stand up alone for himself with our doc is abserd! YOU, even as an adult, shouldn't have to "fight" by yourself when you are clearly in major distress! Even someone to get on the phone and "law down the law" would help! Sometimes you gatta YELL to be heard and if you need someone else to do the yelling for you SO BE IT!!!
I'd call right NOW and say...
"Hey, I NEED you to DO something for me NOW!! I've got kids to take care, I've got LIFE to take care of and I'm REALLY HURTING HERE!! I NEED SOMETHING MORE than what I'm getting from you now. Do you understand????? You've been a really good doctor (lie to him if you have to) but I NEED you to be a better one or I might do something that the both of us will regret! Do you understand what I mean?"
You need to MAKE him care. OR you need to get someone to speak up for you and make him care. Be polite but be really REALLY firm and assertive. Then tell him if he can't help you then you'll find someone who can if he again dismisses you. Sometimes you have to do everything short of slapping him across his face.
Good Luck.
