Help my name is Koco and I have bipolar II.  I am now have very high and lows. I am also have trouble getting my family to understand. I have not post on a chat before, so bear with me. Please give me any suggestions about posting and how I can read the remarks.

Welcome Koko,

I see from your other post that you're getting the hang of doing that. Cool! Now if you want to check if there are any replies to your post question just look up your question and see if it shows up any # of replies. If it does, you have one. Then just click on your post (question) again and you will be able to read it.

Maybe you can print some information on bipolar that you find from the internet for your family to read and help understand what you are dealing with.

There is also a good book out there for people diagnosed with bi-polar and their families to read to help understand this more. It is called "The Bi-polar Survival Guide".

I apologize for taking a while to get back to you, but welcome to the forum. I'm glad Sukay has already had a chance to say hi too.

The book Sukay mentioned is good because it's designed for both people with bp and their families, just because it is often so hard for families to understand. Another option is to take whoever is having the most trouble (your husband, mother...) with you to a doctor's appointment and ask the doctor to explain a bit why you have bipolar, what that means for you and for your family

No worries about posting or anything like that, we're a patient group. Take your time to learn the ropes and absolutely ask questions as you need to, but it seems like you're already getting the hang of how to use the board.

Koco, welcome.  I am positive you will find plenty of support and information here in this forum.  The bipolar survival guide mentioned by sukay is an excellent read, and it may help you alot with talking to those in your cirabout your diagnosis.

The internet has also a large amount of information you could print out...for others and for yourself. I found alot of great information on the following:
