Son on Invega

Hi I am new to the forum,I am interested in a post I saw about a 13 year old boy taking Invega. My son is 13 and has been been on it for about a month. I would like to talk to others who have some similar experiences. My son has been on seroquel, risperidol, and abilify.
We are not noticing any difference with the Invega, and have gradually taken him off of everything except the Invega.(waiting for a DR. visit)

Hi, I am also new....my son is almost 13 years old and has been on invega (6mg) for about three months.  I have to admit that I haven't seen too much of a change, but it is really hard to gage because there are so many other factors (such as puberty, etc...).  In the past, he has also been on Risperdal and a few others.  At times he is really good, but then he still has his episodes of 'losing it".  Some things I am concerned about are his weight gain since he has been on Invega...he is very athletic and it is a bit puzzling....

I'm not sure how long. I suppose I have to just let his psychiatrist advise me. Just to reiterate, I'm not if it is helping or not. It's just a very hard thing to gage.

My son, to this day, has not really been officially diagnosed with anything.  The general consensus is that he has (or had) ADHD.  He got in alot of fights in 6th grade and actually had to leave his elementary school (for two months) to go to a 'school for bad kids'.  He came back to his regular school to graduate (after being scared straight).  Now, he is in 7th grade at the local middle school and seems to really like it (no fights so far :).  He has always been an average student but, for some reason, after the first 3 weeks he has been getting strictly A's and B's.  He has been doing his homework every night.  I am not sure if this is because of the Invega, or he just really likes the school, etc.., etc....  Honestly he seems to be maturing right before my eyes.  Possibly, he is getting over the rough parts of puberty.   who knows?  All I know is that he keeps on saying, "Dad, are you proud of me?" whenever he does something good.  I just keep on giving him the obvious answer :)

I'm not sure if any of this helps, but it really helps me to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. 

Sorry to hear....just to let you know....my has had some hysterical episodes yet they are more 'the exception to the rule'. Also, he had started to develop breasts too. So I took him to see a Dr. and he said that is a fairly normal occurance for boys going through puberty. Although, it probably doesn't help that he is on the invega because it causes initial weight gain, as you probably know. My son has gained significant weight, as well. We are going to see his psychiatrist to see what our next move should be.

Well it was decided that we will decrease his Invega to wean him off of it. We are at the same time starting him on Geodon, 20mg first then 40.

Right now he mostly watches TV in the afternoon, as long as he is being quiet, I am letting him be. He does have a few times were he will get hyper.

Do any of your children behave like they are only 4 or 5 yrs. old? That is where my son seems to be. He usually will only play with younger kids, he does not do well with kids his own age. He also believes that people are saying things to him and they are not.

This gets him in a lot of trouble, he will flip them of or call them some really bad names!

He has his youngest  sister who is nine a nervous wrck, she is always trying to appease him and always asks if he is in a good mood before she gets off the school bus.

Do any of you have siblings that go through that? She will lock herself in the bathroom to get away from him.

It has been recommended that we consider long term treatment, 6 months or so. Have any of you experienced that?
