Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting. I have read many post and decided to join. I was first officially diagnosed about 14 years ago with depression. Thinking back as a kidm I know I hve had depression long before that. I was put on anti-depressants. Several years ago my pdoc took me off the anti-depressants and started me on mood stabilizers because I was having symptoms of bi-polar. I have been on several mood stabilizers over the years. I tend to have more depressive episodes than I do manic episodes so I asked my pdoc at the time(I now just recently started seeing a new one) to add an ant-depressant. She refused and said this was not a good idea. I read up on it and this is a common practice. They say it tends to cause a manic episode. I was already unhappy with her so I found a new doc. I am in one of depressive states at the momemt. I asked my new pdoc to add an anti-depressant. She was hesitant at first but with talking to my therapist and me. She started me on Celexa 10 mg. I was on this previously which I did very well.
My question is, is there other people on both a mood stablizer and anti-depressant and how is it working?
The other meds I am currently on are Topamax 200 mg/day, depakote which she is weaning me off due to side effects. So the goal is that I will be on Topamax 200 mg and the Celexa. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
