Dear Rozdo: I am extremely concerned that your Doctor said the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis can't be treated as it isn't serious enough to bother with. Get a referral to an endocrinologist just as fast as you can. My Gram on my Mother's side had this, she was extremely ill. My mother has it and I do as well. Let me tell you my experience: Around 1992 or thereabouts I had two small children 3, and 5. Having recently separated from the father, I thought my symptoms were related to that (anxiety, restlessness, panic attacks, inability to focus, running, running hither and though,) sometimes I would find myself sitting in line at a traffic light, and couldn't for the life of me figure out where I was going and what I was doing there. I could not sit still. Fussing, doing things over and over trying for perfection, not sleeping at all. I started to self medicate with alcohol. Then, when that wouldn't take the nasties away I found a doc who would prescribe Ativan in near unlimited quantities. Ulyimately, my Stepfather and Mother flew in and took over the care of the children while I went to Detox. Coming out, I couldn't take care of the children, I was so depressed all I did was lie on the coach and wish away the world. I let ex-hubby take the children which was a disaster. To this day. What was going on was my immune system mis-identified my thyroid as foreign tissue and attacked it. I ultimately ended up with a lumpy, bumpy, burned out thyroid. Even if your TSH levels are not that high, it is still possible to have a thyroid disorder. That will cause all the symptoms you listed.
