Hello, my name is Ashley. My husband was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder when he was 18 years old after being hospitalized. Now he is 24 years old and we are currently separated. He has not taken his meds for 2 and a half years. However, he appeared to be acting alright. Then at the end of October he went bowling with a "friend" who happened to be a girl. I immediately accused him of cheating and asked him to move out of our house. He in return has been staying at a friend's house an hour away. He has said he would try and work things out with me. I myself have had bouts of depression and have recently gotten on some medication. It has been a long time coming for me. Soon after he moved out I told his mom that he has not been on his meds. She is the only one she will listen to. Now I don't know what to think. I love him so much, but I am not sure what to do. I know he is not sleeping and is extremely hyper and talkative. He really can't sit down for a long time. The minute he told me he wasn't sleeping I knew something was wrong. However, soon after he moved out he told me we would have to begin dating again and that he loved me, but was not in love with me. I am taking this very hard. I know I was the one who asked him to move out, but his behavior is just not him. One minute he tells me that once I start trusting him he will move back home and then when I tell him that I started on an antidepressant myself he tells me that it may be too late. Can someone please help me?! I just don't know what to think. His mom has asked me to be patient and wait until his doctor's appt on Jan 5th to do anything. That way she can get him back on his meds. I need some help and some advice.

Jan.5 is a week away. Just stay well for several weeks for his meds to kick in and as you yourself are on medication, be patient. Once the two of you feel saner, you'll have more sucessful communication.

Hi hurtandconfused,
I just wanted to take a moment and welcome you to HealingWell and the bipolar board. I hope you'll find the support and community you're looking for here. With the holidays it's a little slow around here. Give it a few days and things may perk up.
Thanks,
serafena
