Hi Dumb and Brunette,
Welcome to the bipolar forum and to HealingWell.
Anger and rage can certainly be symptoms in bipolar, but there are so many other symptoms involved as well. What else causes you to believe your spouse is bipolar?
Let me throw a couple of links your way with lists of symptoms. Not perfect resources, but maybe you'll find them useful. If you do think your husband is bipolar, the first thing to do is to try and get him to a psychiatrist to have an evaluation. A tricky thing to do for anyone. Try waiting until he is calm and compliant and suggest to him that you've seen some unusual behaviors that you'd like to have checked out by a doctor. DON'T suggest he's bipolar. He'll just get angry and defensive. Let the doctor come to that conclusion.
If he doesn't seem to fit the lists of systems, well then you've got yourself an abusive husband, and you've got some hard thinking to do. In either case, you don't have to put up with the abuse. NO ONE deserves to be abused, whether by someone mentally ill or otherwise. So keep that in mind. Bipolar Disorder is not an excuse to be abusive. Period.
Okay,
