hey all, I'm a new chap

Found this place while googling, which is something I spend quite a lot of time doing :P Bipolar runs in my family, though I'm the first one to actually be diagnosed (it's all on my mum's side...she has it too but doesn't believe in it. When I told her I was getting too manic, she said, "oh that's not mania, that's just you being your regular cheerful self!"). It sucks. I'm type II and have only been psychotic once, and that was during a depressive episode. Psychotic depression = scariest thing ever.

Right now I'm getting my meds rearranged. I'm taking xanax, Lexapro, Trileptal, and recently my doc added Abilify (which is working great, except for the side effects, which I have to take cogentin for. Yes, I'm taking a drug for my drug. Reeeediculous). I like the abilify, as it is the first thing to make me feel human in a really long time. Unfortunately, I'm not so fond of having to take a drug for my drug, and the cogentin gives me a new set of side effects. Fail.

I also enjoy long walks on the beach and romantic candlelit dinners :P
(not really, but I do enjoy science fiction, writing, cats, and Shostakovich)
