Ok, instead of all doom and gloom i though a chance to see some of the things that make us happy would help others. Here are a few from me including myself in the last picture. I'm the one on the right. LOL LOL LOL This is my 6 1/2 month old bernese mountain dog puppy, Thor. He has been an absolute joy in my life. Hope you all decide to share also.

OMG How precious!!!!!  Here are my babies..er well, my golden mix, she was put down in May (14 yrs old) but my Bear is still here.  He's almost 15!

Happy Bill and Stormienite and everyone:

I LOVE seeing the pics of you and your beautiful animals. I also think it's great to have a little personality and off-topic stress relief on the board. However, forum rules say the following:

"18. No irrelevant or off-topic posts. Posts which are not relevant to the forum topic may be deleted at the moderator's discretion. "

That said, I'll let this thread stand. If you want to post pics or happy thoughts here, great. But further off-topic posts I'll have to delete.

So sorry!!! Really!!!

I don't think posting things that bring joy to the lives of people who suffer from depression is off topic at all.

I find it therapeutic and healing.

Pets are sometimes recommended as therapy for those who suffer from depression. Pet therapy is shown as providing positive results to people who suffer from depression. Sharing what brings us joy can add to that experience.

Years ago I had a dog who kept me from the ultimate stupidity.

This thread may actually open the door to something helpful to somebody who is bipolar.

Bill makes a great point that his pets are part of his support network. They provide him unconditional love.

All due respect Serafina, I think you are way off base with this call.

I mean what's next, we can't reveal we've found an effective medication combination?

I found this one of the most positive and helpful threads in this forum in a long time. I was preparing to share my own little four-legged support network (the little monsters).

I'm totally with you OBB. Please do post some pictures. I have no intention of stopping this thread.

OT threads have a way of multiplying, though, and soon you have a board full of Britney Spears gossip and pics of everyone's cars. Nothing wrong with that -- this is just not the place for it. Historically -- quite a while ago -- we had real troubles on this board with off topic posts and some very contentious debates about what should and shouldn't be allowed. You can (and people have) take this argument to a ridiculous degree: Hollywood gossip is fun, and therefore therapeutic to depressed people, therefore it should be allowed.

However, I agree that this kind of post can be therapeutic, that's what I was trying to say. Let's do this, but know we can't go much farther than this with OT posts.

  Sorry if i caused a problem, i forgot that part of the forum rules.  smhair   I'm a big dummy. lol  i DID think that with the holidays and the stress involved that it might make a positive difference. SOrry, i'm just to darn happy and positive. LOL LOL LOL

I find quilting very calming for me when I'm stressed out.  I do a lot of applique quilts and I do as much by hand as I can so it takes all my focus.  Really soothes me a lot.

I like quilting, stormie, but I'm more a knitter. I like to sew as well, but I haven't done much in a while. Hmmm. I wonder why? Maybe I should make something. I haven't quilted in ages. Maybe that'll be my next project! Thanks for the idea!

  I agree, thanks everyone for sharing. As for all those who are lurking out there, come on in and join the party. We would love to see what makes you happy. This disease is so much easier to bear once you start to share with those who also suffer and understand you .

Thanks all.  This was good to do.  Serafena, thanks for letting this post go, it was nice to share.  PS I am surprised I even managed to get a tree up this year!  But I did it! And WOW to the quilt, what an accomplishment!  It looks awesome!
