I've had Thor the monster puppy now for 8 months and i have to say that i love him very much. I think he has shown me a few tricks to living that works well for me as a BP person.
1. LIVE IN THE MOMENT. I know we have to make some plans to prepare for the future (bills, treatments, etc) But letting go and just accepting what the moment is offering and enjoying it to its fullest is a real treat. Besides in my work as a firefighter i have come to realize how quickly we all can exit this world. All it takes is just a momentry lapse of concentration and BANG, thats it.
2. YOU CAN WISH FOR MORE, BUT REALLY ENJOY WHAT YOU GOT. This i see all the time, people who have a car wishing for a nicer car, a bigger house, a more beautiful wife, ETC ETC ETC. I do it too, but i have found myself more and more being happy with what i have. This has been a huge key in me achieving peace in my life. Sure my life isnt exactly perfect, but honestly who's is? I think there is some Buddist idea here of being happy for what is, not what you wish it was. Maybe Budda had a dog because that is exactly a dogs view of the world. LOL LOL LOL
We all get so caught up in living in the past (Reliving mistakes and hating or blaming ourselves), or living in the future (what we need to get done around the house, work, etc) that we fail to just sit back and enjoy today for today. When my puppy has a treat he enjoys it with relish. He doesnt think about calories, or what it might do to his figure, he just enjoys it. These last few months i have tried to do the same, when i have a Ho-Ho i dont worry about my waist, i just enjoy the taste. Now it doesnt mean i eat the whole box but there is something to be said for guilty pleasures becoming guilt free.
Now this doesnt mean that me (as a sex fiend) is going to throw caution to the wind and start having sex everywhere. Not at all. It just means that in the last few months i have found a peace inside me that i didn't know i had. And having that peace has allowed me to have much greater control and energy in fighting BP. Granted, this post may come across as CRAZY. Then again, i am. And i'm probally not putting into words well what i am feeling. But i honestly do believe that just following the two examples above have helped my life improve a lot. And that has, in may ways, improved the lives of those around me. Because a happier, healthier me means a happier healthier family.
Of course all of Thors ideas arnt exactly great. Like chewing up the aluminum siding on the garage (Yep, i said aluminum) That idea falls under the #3 DO WHATEVER YOU WANT NOW, BUT BE SURE TO LOOK CUTE AND SAD LATER, (Even if you arnt in the least bit sad about it) No offense Thor but i'm not cute enought to pull this one off so i'll take a pass on the totally guiltfree way of living. LOL LOL LOL
Hope this makes a little sense, Happy Bill
