Trileptal can it make you really emotional or sad?

my husband is new on this, never taken anything before for his bipolar. He's been doing fine on it since starting it's about 2 weeks, he's telling me the last few days he's felt very sad and very emotional.

I think this could be a good thing since normally he's very emotionless and doing see how he hurts others w/ words, etc..

Does this med cause this type of thing?

I am not familiar with Trileptal but I can tell you that going through a med switch has been a very difficult situation for me. I have emotions that don't correspond to what's going on in life. Its been kinda hell to say the least and you certainly have your plate full. Feeling new unfamiliar emotions is probably very unnerving to your husband and he may not know exactly what to do with them all.
