Not sure about that particular group, but have gone twice to other groups.
First one scared the bajeebies out of me. about 25 in the crowd, the leader, the professional of the group, was in the hospital. Co-leader visibly shaken. I'm BP II, and so it was the first time I saw BP Is and it was quite an eye opener. So I did learn that much, but not much else. (Like, boy am I lucky) It was at a big hospital, night time, and scary, especially in the parking lot.
Second one was small, about 6 people, a few spouses, in a church basement. Again, interesting to see other's symptoms, but didn't learn anything. There wasn't a topiic. Gathered lots of printed info to take home.
Every group probably has its own personality. Don't know if you can inquire as to how the meeting is run. I thought there should be a topic to comment on. And a leader. I would really prefer to hear a strong speaker in an auditorium setting more than going around the circle, saying something, not related to what anyone else has commented, and then nobody comments on it anyway. I have security/insecurity issues.
Call/email and inquire, or just go. It could be a real good thing.
