SoSickAndTired, I'm very sorry this is happening to you. Does your
lawyer know about
your having been diagnosed as bipolar? He will
probably be very protective of you if he knows that and will have a
strong defense for you if the attorney for the plaintiff has learned of it and is negative in tone about
it.
You have much going for you:
1. Your children want to live with you which is looked upon by the courts, I would think, in a positive way.
2. Your illness is stabilized by medications and by having a specialist
who watches over your psychic condition. How many sick people are
in custody of their children now who do not even know that they have
an illness and are not willing to do something about
it to correct
the problems?
Responsibility and care for oneself has so much to do with the court's looking favorably on a plea to have one's children in your custody.
Try to be calm about
it if you can and rely strongly on guidance from your attorney. He's watching out for you; you may be sure of that.
Please be careful about
your diet with this illness: no alcohol, no caffeine--they both make the illness worse. Take your meds and
get your rest. Those are the four requests given me by my psychiatrist
and they were wise ones because it helps tremendously to follow those guidelines for therapy for yourself.
I hope you feel stronger tomorrow.
Take good care of yourself and let everyone know how things go, please.
I.G.
