This is my first time posting here, so I appreciate any help I can get. I'm currently taking 900mg of Lithium Carbonate daily, split into two doses of 450mg. I'm probably going to be upping the dose sometime next week, I just had blood taken yesterday for my levels. Here os my question, I only have one more 450mg pill for this evening dose and my doc doesn't work on Fridays so I can't get a refill today. I still have quite a few 300mg pills from before. If I don't get a hold of my doc today should I just take 300mg 3 times a day over the weekend, or can I take 600mg in the am and 300mg in the evening?

Call and talk to your pharmacist. If you have had the perscription filled at the pharmacy before they will sometimes give you a few pills to get you through until you can get the refill from your doctor. If they aren't able to do that, they will be able to help you figure out what to do with the pills that you have.

This may not be helpful but, for me, but when I am at 900mg of lithium, my Dr. has me take 600mg in the evening and 300mg in the morning.

Of course you should check with your Dr, nurseline, or pharmacist, but from what I understand, doses over 600mg should be split into 2 doses 12 hours apart. *I* would not hesitate to use the 300mg pills over the weekend. You willl have to make that choice for yourself.

Hopefully you have been able to talk to a member of your support team.

Not that you should do what I do but........I would do what I could to keep my doses steady. Not good to let the doses drop. I have been on medication for years and I still take my med bottles to the Dr with me, to go over, so that I am not relying on memory (memory sucks) Doing that has really helped me keep track and not run out. I guess my doc didn't come into her office or check her voice mail today, so I'll probably just take 300mg in the am and 600 in the pm over the weekend and hopefully talk to the doc on Monday. Thanks for your input :)
