Hi all,

iv been on trileptal and depokote for the past few months, but i feel like only the trileptal is helping, i am currently looking for a new dr, the person i have been seeing is just not helping me the way i need.  i have been having side effects for some time, but she keeps insisting i stay on the depokote, and i have had no blood testing.  iv asked many times on bad days to see her atleast that week, but she will say no and give me a date a month later, i just feel like im missing out on more options, (if any of you can pm me to help me start the process of even finding a dr, i dont know where to look)  since being on the depokote, my belly has grown, and looks awful, i also get pains on teh right side of my stomach, ranging from so bad i cant eat some days, to just stabbing pains, has anyone else experienced this?  how do i go about telling her i dont want to be her patient anymore?  how do i get my records?

Hello, Lady Laura,

Just tell your psychiatrist that you want a second opinion regarding Depakote because you are having adverse effects from it. She
may even give you a recommendation for another psychiatrist.

As soon as you have made the appointment with another physician
your records will be transferred to that doctor. You will not need to
access them yourself. Your new physician will just ask you to sign
a release permitting the documents to be faxed or mailed to your
new psychiatist.

Depakote can cause liver problems, and regular blood tests are required when you're on this medication.

I would get blood tests asap. Ask your family doctor to do these if you can't get your pdoc to do so.
