I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I hope you are doing OK.
I'm not sure exactly what you are doing as far as excercise now - you mostly mentioned things that you had been doing.
The aerobic excercise you had been doing is key, you know that I'm sure. When you walk your dog, do you walk fast? If the running is too hard, do a couple blocks jogging and a couple blocks walking (very fast, of course!) The harder work in between is very effective in burning fat. The two miles is good, whatever takes at least 30 minutes or more. This should be 5 times per week. Pilates is my pet favorite - I really recommend Winsor's Advanced body slimming - has an all over workout. I do that every other day and walk/run with my 2 dogs about 5 times per week. It's always good to go longer if you can, but don't push yourself beyond your limits if you get too tired. I know when I'm stressed or a bit depressed, my energy gets VERY low and it's so hard, some days I just can't do it. Last winter I fell into the usual winter depression and couldn't do anything for about 3 weeks - lost all my muscle tone and it took 2 months to get it back. Here's the deal: Healthy weight is 25% excercise and 75% diet. You know very well the eating at night is your undoing. I had a hard time stopping, too, but after stopping for a week, 5 pounds came off. It does get much easier after a week or so.
New study out this month: Lack of sleep causes weight gain, because the brain sends out hunger signals so you will eat to have more energy. If you aren't sleeping well, you need to call your pdoc and get adjusted. If you are bored at night, find something to do like maybe read a book, learn things on the internet, brain teaser puzzle book, anything to occupy your mind. We all know that TV usually = food.
Also, the frozen yogurt usually has a good amount of sugar, take a look at the contents and calories in a serving size. Usually their recommendation of a serving size is a tiny 1/2 cup!!
I hope this helped some, ask me anything - I love it!!!
