The Assessment Interview Was Tough

It was really hard admitting to all the things I couldn't do over a 2 1/2 hour period... that is not to mention all the hours it took to get all the evidence they wanted together previously.

I was exhausted before I even got to the appt and just wanted to sleep... but soon the anxiety gave me the lift I needed - but went home and spiralled into a deeply confused depression.

I rang the support worker who went with me and she agreed that I should ring my gp given that my pdoc is away. My gp turned out to be away also.

I upped one of my meds by a half dose, until I can get medical advice. I have a friend who is a dr, I'll double check with her.

Still got a bit of delirium but feeling very vulnerable.

Camano, I hear you babe. Did you go on your own without a support worker? You should give yourself credit for managing that kind of intense confronting assessment on your own. I had support and I still didn't cope :(. Legislation and Policy differs amongst countries, but in Australia allied health professionals are entitled to have a professional opinion but only the treating medical practitioner can change dx... hopefully it is the same for you there and one person's first impressions won't make any impact on your care. Well done for managing the appt and the fall out from it... I think I have a fair idea how it might felt for you (((hugs)))
