So many times on the forums I read about
folks who need to take medications but just have difficulty staying with them because of
the side effects caused by metabolism of the medications.
I've spoken about how all medications are digested as acidic, and the body needs to keep an alkaline state of fluids as much as possible. Recently, I've done some more research on the matter in an effort to help us all who need to take meds but dislike it and who didn't know what to do to help keep the body tissues and fluids in a more alkaline state other than restricting the diet.
American salt, which has been refined, has been stripped of all its
valuable trace minerals, except for potassium (which is sometimes added and iodine in certain ones, along with aluminum as a preventive for caking of the salt and sugar for that purpose, too.) It is bad for the body.
Natural, unrefined salt has not only the major minerals but natural
trace minerals which the body so much needs, especially when taking medications and foods which are highly acidic in reaction.
One of the things that natural, unrefined salt does is to reduce the acidity of brain cells (which is very good). It helps to regulate glucose levels, which is also important in the system. In fact, it
does so many beneficial things that I'd like to ask you to look at
two sites that discuss this matter more fully:
(I have no vested interest in any of the products; I just do my own
research into these matters for personal and, hopefully, helpful benefit for others.) I need to add that we are not doctors; we can tell you only what has worked for us.
www.curezone.com/foods/saltcure.asp (Page down to "Vital Functions of Salt in the Body")
and
www.saltworks.us/breton_organic_seasalt.html
These two sites offer you explanations of why the unrefined salts in our diet are sooooo-oo-o much better for our systems. I've been
practicing this for over a week now and can see a huge difference in my feeling tone, as well as my sleeping ability. (It takes about a week to begin to notice the strong difference.)
It's the trace minerals that are missing from refined salt that are
causing so many problems with acid reactions of medications, and
anything that we can do to correct that is a help.
I hope you find a good way to maintain an interest in keeping on your medications by supplying what is needed in the way of dropping refined salt and substituting unrefined salt in your diet.
This type of salt does not raise blood pressure as refined salt does;in fact, because it has the trace minerals necessary to remove
the unneeded sodium from the salt, it lowers blood pressure. And it helps to reduce the sugar cravings for those of us who have diabetes.
There are too many good things to say about it in this post, but I hope you will take an interest in this for you own well-being as someone who must take medications for your illnesses.
Try to keep well by doing the best things for your system.
A third site (googled) is http://www.livingfood101.com/healthbenefits/seasalt.html.
which gives a more extensive list of benefits of sea salt use.
Check these sites, please, and read the information for improving
many qualities of life in appropriate use.
Always check with your doctor for approval before beginning any
new regimen to improve health. We aren't doctors; we can recommend only that which is helpful to us or others that we know about.
