My doctor has decided to take me off my anxiety medication, Ativan, and in response to my furious complaints decided to put me on Ambilify. Can someone share their experience of it with me. I'm only on 1ml (gotta cut them in half) but I'm worried 1. It'll turn me into a zombie. 2. It'll have similarly negative effects on me that Seroquel did... anxiety, paranoia, rapid cycling 3. My hair will fall out.

This was one of the first things i was on. Honestly it didnt do much for me. It was only when i went of respirdal that i saw a huge reduction of my symptons.

I have been on Abilify for probably a year now, I started on 2mg, but after a major depression and suicide attempt in mid-March was increased to 5mg.  I have not noticed any negative side effects.  I do however notice a significant change when I miss a day or two, unfortunately I am experiencing that now. 

I have been on Seroquel as well, and for me Abilify is completely different.  I was a zombie on Seroquel, but have had no negative reaction to Abilify.

As with other anti-depressants, it can take a few weeks to take effect, so stick with it and after a few weeks let your doctor know if you feel like you need your dose increased or if the med isn't working for you.

a few years now on abilify. 30mg. am on seroquel as well. long term.
has helped with mood and irritablity. hoping it helps.

I have been taking abilify for a few years now and it has really helped me a lot. I hope it works for you too. I have no side effects and seen much improvement in my moods.

Thank you everybody. I only usually get on here between the 20th and 5th of the months, when I'm a bit nutty or on a new med. Sometimes to answer questions. But anyway, not that often, yet every time I'm on, I am overwhelmed by how helpful everyone is. I am sooooooo grateful to have found this site. I've never seen a message-board where people actually respond to posts with genuine concern, compassion and wisdom like they do here. It's often a miracle to get a response at all! But here everyone is like a family... that 'off' side of the family you don't tell people about. LOL! Seriously, I love you all. You have kept me from floating far far away more times than I can count just by BEING.

Hi, some issues i had about 5 years ago with Abilify and with the consideration that i do have a brain tumor X2. I was on it for about a year and while it seemed to help with the mood swings, ups and downs, at first, within 6 months I began having headaches, fevers and dizzy spells which progressed to vertigo, migraines and what my neurologist thought were seizures. After 3 days on the seizure ward at St. Jo's they couldn't figure it out and sent me home sans Abilify, 3 weeks later the migraines, vertigo etc. had stopped and the other symptoms I can't say cause I had radiation later that year. Just some thoughts.
