Abilify for children?

My daughter was originally dx'd with ADHD and cyclothymia, a new psychiatrist she saw two days ago says she does not have ADHD and doesn't believe in cyclothymia as a real diagnosis. She feels that my 10 yr. old is showing early signs of being bipolar. I see a lot of mood and coping probs but not to the extreme that I read/see about bipolar.

She wants my daughter to take Abilify instead of AdderallXR. She gave me some sample meds to try her on, 5mg and she is supposed to take half of that.

Does anyone know how this medication will affect her?

She is pretty sedated, she's taken three doses of it and it seems to get a little better each day. Her mood is totally evened out, though. We got through an overnight trip five hours away, and she didn't even twitch the whole time. Normally that is cause for her to spiral out of contril with the giddiness and hyper manic behavior, but she was smiling and laughing and listening to what she was told. I was afraid that it would make her a zombie and she would be smoother,but not the "same" child. So far it just seems to be holding her on a more level daily ride. Which works for me They had her on Adderall and it started making her paranoid. Her appetite is a bit diminished, but the Adderall did that,too. I just make sure she eats at least half of what I serve, and then has good snacks available to her. She can't resist yogurt or ice cream.
