Do manic symptoms mimic adhd?

When I get my (mood highs) these are my usuall symptoms

Restless like i can't sit still, i have to be moving or fidgeting.

racey mind

focus problems

as well as feeling a little happier, a little amped up.

When i was a kid, the dr.thought maybe i had a focus problem but i was never diagnosed with add or adhd.

maybe its the manic side of bi-polar?

i'll research this more.

Mania will come with reduced need for sleep (or no need for sleep), reduced appetite, and increased sex drive. As far as I know, those are not related to ADD/ADHD

I was feeling ADHD several months ago and couldn't figure out why. Upon research, I found that hypomania can mimic ADHD. People with ADHD have a reduced need for sleep and reduced appetite - both symptoms I've had to fight my daughter having for years. Increased sex drive isn't necessarily related to mania.

Hypomania and ADHD are VERY similar. The difference is hypomania comes in distinct episodes that usually only last for a few days or 1-2 weeks. ADHD on the other hand is pretty much permanent. It can improve but improvement is gradual and with therapy. It doesn't just suddenly stop like hypomania, nor do people with ADHD suddenly crash into depression like people having hypomania are prone to do.
