Bipolar is no excuse to treat people unfairly or abuse them. He has every right to be respected and treated fairly, just as you do.
Bipolar demands we be develop skills to override the urge to act out. It doesn't give us permission to act out.
The question could be what are you doing to better manage your symptoms to not harm the people around you.
We are all failed humans, bipolar or not. We all make mistakes, but we can't expect people to forgive us for our mistakes. We just have to focus on ourselves and resolve how we are going to tweak things to improve ourselves as humans.
Medication, therapy and good lifestyle management can help minimise our symptoms and help us be more consistently be our best versions of ourselves. It's really hard. I know only too well!!!
Possibly focussing on what brings you meaning and joy might help you develop more happiness in your life and that in turn will make it easier to "urge surf" the irrits. Just observe irritability as a symptom, take time out, and know you don't have to act on it.
You will find your own way to best manage the "irrits". It is an awful symptom to feel.... and yes, we can't get away from ourselves, that's the worst part.
