Coming off quetiapine

Hi,

I am new to the group and thought I would ask for some advice.

I live in the UK and have bipolar 1.

Over the last year I have been on 400mg of quetiapine slow release at night along with 250mg of depakote one at night and one in the morning.

Due to extreme weight gain my psychiatrist wants to change me onto aripiprazolel.

Prior to Monday I have been on 300mg of quetiapine for a month then 200mg for 3 weeks aswell as my depakote. I wasn't coping on the 200mg so from Monday I have been taking 5mg of aripiprazole with 100mg of quetiapine and my normal dose of depakote. I was given 15 pills of 2mg of vallium to take as and when required. Next week I am decreasing to 50mg of quetiapine.

My main concern is my withdrawel symptoms. Mainly aches and pains all over my body.

I am really worried about next week but I see my CPN and I may call them in the morning.

Any comments would be welcome.

Welcome to the forum! I am glad you joined. How is the weather in the UK currently?

I have never used quetiapine, but I have read up about it online.

Possible Symptoms of Seroquel Withdrawal:

  • Insomnia.
  • Nausea and vomiting.
  • Return of delusions, hallucinations, or other psychotic symptoms.
  • Return of manic or bipolar symptoms.


However, everyone is different and they may react different to meds. Not everyone will experience the same symptoms. Some people may not experience any withdrawal symptoms.
There are members who used this meds before and I'm sure they will post their experience. You can do a search on this med to see past threads on it.

Please ask you CPN about it as they may be able to provide you with more information.

I hope you will feel better with the change in meds.
