in the solace of love,
my dreams are birds flying,
soar does my heart-
and eagle upon high,
tomorrows dream i see,
dawn sings to me.

flutter does my blossom,
a butterfly of heavens joy,
random not my love,
i have loved you before-
awaiting till you were born.
time is just a fabric of longing,
strand by strand, soon i hold your hand.
together-and one in life,
the spring dew of mornings light.

forever is now,
tomorrow has come,
beauty between us-
always with me, always with you-
we fly high, not to land, just to be,
in love and with wings of doves.

i guess it is a love poem.
to my sleepy head.

As I read I wondered to myself, "did he study Wordsworth and Keats?" You have elements of both great romantics!

Very nice. Last time I wrote a poem it was when my daughter was in the hospital and for my husband on our anniversary.

thx. i have written a few on the forum in the past. sherlock, yeah i do write, i use to prolifically. had some pieces published in a renowned arts museum. i usually just give them to my friends. i guess some of my best work has now been recycled. i generally enjoy the less contemporary prose and more cryptic. but this poem was apt for the former. needs a bit of refinement, but not bad for straight out of my head, that's how they begin.

Straight out of your head ... Is what some people work on for days.
I have this anthology text book and one cool bonus is that in the back are " unfinished works"
For whatever reason ( death ... Abandonment ..) the poet didn't finish them and in addition to that there is " works in progress " lets you into the poets thought process.
But yeah straight off the top of your head very very good.
You said it needs work , can I venture to guess changing the numbers of the lines in the stanzas. 7,9,6 ... Give them 8 like a sonnet maybe?
