Thank you Cilly. I have taken up some of your advice already. I have a dog, I do have hobbies and I try hard to be myself.
One of my hobbies keeps me busy, don't know about
involved in a productive way.
Those subjects touch on one of my problems in my marriage. I have been an active trag racer for many years. I continue to enjoy the sport at a less frantic pace than when I was younger. In the last few years I've raced sparingly mainly because of a lack of help. My wife of 50 years went with me to every event for well over 25 years. In the last 6 years she has lost interest in the sport on all levels.
That kind of loosing interest is like fishing, Car touring, antiques, visiting friends, movies and spending time with family and my Vietnam Vets group who are all men that I served with. I won't mention sex.
I try to adjust to her loss of interest ,which as you can see, that alone would keep one busy. She has no hobbies and she always loved mine. She loves to plan travel, but seldom makes the trips.
One of my most favorite hobbies is Drag Racing. She demands that I sell out and become a spectator. I am not ready to do that. She threatens to leave and sights liability as a main concern. Our exposure to loosing "everything". These are issues that can be discussed with this lady. It's one way, hers, period. The exposure has been there as long as I have raced. I've heard of drivers suing a track but never another driver.
The medications that I take for blood pressure and PTSD are her favorite reasons as to if I was involved in an accident, someone would sue me. I take one blood thinner that is not liked by the sanctioning bodies. It's not banned, but it can make you bleed and a lot if cut. So the obvious reasonable thing to do is limit my exposure to being cut by putting a new driver in my car. Issue resolved right.....answer; NO. Now she's manic ,won't talk ,will not discuss and she threatens to leave me and divorce me to limit her exposure.
Of course I'm not looking for a divorce either.
This story is the beginning of our issues and one rage trigger for her. I'll do another after Christmas, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka, Felis Navida and any others that I've missed
