It's good that you reached out for help.
I went to the search engine and typed in the medicine Vraylar.
drugs.com said, Vraylar (cariprazine) "is an antipsychotic medication that affects chemicals in the brain.
"Vraylar is used to treat schizophrenia in adults.
"Vraylar is also used to treat manic or mixed episodes in adults with bipolar disorder type I.
Important Information"
It said side affects included weigh gain. However, it's also said that the benefits of medicines can outweigh the side affects.
drugs.com also said above that Vraylar is used to treat bipolar type 1, a condition WebMD.com says: "Bipolar I disorder involves periods of severe mood episodes from mania to depression.
"Bipolar II disorder is a milder form of mood elevation, involving milder episodes of hypomania that alternate with periods of severe depression."
Concerning the medicine Ingrezza, which you said you also take,
drugs.com said, "Ingrezza (valbe****ne) blocks certain chemicals in the body that may be involved with involuntary muscle movement. Ingrezza is used to treat symptoms of tardive dyskinesia, a nervous system disorder. Tardive dyskinesia causes repetitive uncontrolled muscle movements, usually in the face (chewing, lip smacking, frowning, tongue movement, blinking or eye movement)."
Weight gain was not listed as a side affects of Ingrezza.
I've taken an antipsychotic for my bipolar I, also. And it did seem to help with the mania part of that.
Beside weigh gain, is the medicine Vraylar helping with your bipolar I?
I don't know what to say about the weight gain. I have that also with the medicines I'm taking for bipolar I, which are Lithium (for the mania) and Mirtazapine for the depression.
I don't know what to do about the side effects, either, except to keep taking the medicine so I won't be manic or depressed.
