Lithium Orotate

"Over-the-counter lithium orotate is promoted as a health supplement for use as a low-dose source of lithium; however, very limited clinical evidence exists to support use. Non-controlled studies have examined the use of low-dose lithium orotate in the treatment of alcoholism, migraines, and depression associated with bipolar disorder."

You said, " I researched it for my mom and apparently meds are blocking a major neurotransmitter in the brain called "glutamate". Lithium naturally regulates it."

I got away from medicine for awhile through a series of foul ups by doctor and myself, and I tried the natural health food route and I knew from the start it wasn't working.

I even got back as far as "Valerian Root," which threw my mother into a tizzy when my wife told her what I was trying, asking. "He's taking "What!!!!" my wife said she responded at the news.

Yeah, I even went to a root doctor. It was getting bad. If I had been thinking positively, I could have just taken 1/2 or less of the Lithium pill to see if it was going to kill me, and if it didn't, take the other half an hour or more later, whenever I choose.

But, oh, no, I couldn't do that. When I finally did get back to regular medicine, to Lithium and my anti-depressant, everything was OK.

I take Lithium and I know it slows me down, which is what I need with mania, but it doesn't bother me to the point where it has more negatives than positives. It does have some negatives, but being in a manic state does also.

Did you mother have problems taking the Lithium, or was she not taking it and having problems?

My mom is on Lamotrigine right now and I was hoping to taper her off of it and onto the lithium orotate. The Lithium Orotate is different from the Rx Lithium. It doesn't have any side effects.
