Hi Wendy,
If you go to a psychologist be sure to explain all of your history and current
thoughts and experiences.
Medication is serious business. Now all doctors seem to be more careful before
they prescribe antidepressants. Now if you fall into BIPOLAR category you can not
take SSRI antidepresants because they will set off a manic episode.
It's really important to be aware of your own symptoms and past behavior. keep a
journal. Whe ever you get a "brite"idea be sure to run it by someone.
Sometime what could seem to you like THE MOST LOGICAL thing to do, is NOT.
Don't stay alone in your thoughts.
If it was me, knowing what I know now, after having some bad experiences with
medications, I would spend the money and go to a PHARMACOLIGIST/PSYCHIATRIST
to get first opinion and subscription on meds and then work with the psychoTHERIPIST
to talk to every week or two. It takes time with medication and sometimes trying
different ones.
Watch out for gynocologists giving you something like SERAFEM for PMS. It is really
prozac that they subscribe for certian days of the month.
The pharmacoligist will work with the therapist. Two shrinks are better than one.
take care

I was on Serafem for three months and that completely messed me up! As soon as I stopped taking it I went "mad" as my mom called it she blamed it for my attempt of suicide.
Wendy
I'm going to be on Medicade and the bad thing with that is that I pretty much have to take what they give me. I have a short list of psychologist I am allowed to see and nothing higher than that. I think if my psych refers me to a higher psyche like a pdoc they have to take my insurance. I guess I will have to see. If I am perscribed something I will post it on here to find out other experiances as well as do my major research that I have learned to do since the serafem.
