to introduce myself.
I'm a 28 year old married mother to 3 young kids. Been married for 8 years.
I suffered from clinical depression when i was 11 til about 15. My sister comitted suicide when I was 11 and I had a hard time dealing with it.
In June of 2006 I left my husband and went to live with my cousins (same ages as me) and basically partied, drank, had 3 sexual relations...TOTALLY out of character for me.
Noone could figure out what was happening, not even me. I was going 100 miles an hour 24 hours a day.
July 31 it all came to a crashing halt. I threatened to burn the house down and then took off with 2 bottles of pills. Friends that had been over started calling me, worried- but I wouldnt talk to them. I was driving around and had planned on killing myself by driving off a bridge.
A call from my cousin came in and I answered. She told me to get to the hospital or she'd call the cops. I somehow listened to her and drove to the hospital, about 8 minutes from where I was.
I was admitted and the next day after doing a few tests(personality tests on paper) I was diagnosed with bipolar. I was started on Epival and was discharged 10 days later- I then moved back with my hubby and kids. He had been confused and hurt the whole time I was gone but when I got into the hospital he was supportive and understood then that i had a problem.
I had 2 more hospitalizations in august and september and now am involved in a team at my local mental health office. They are great there. My diagnosis of Bipolar 1 with rapid cycling and mixed states makes a whole bunch of sense to me now.
I was switched to seroquel and wellbutrin in September and just last week my doctor added lithium and clonazepan since I am kind of manic for the past week.
I'd LOVE to have someone or a few people in my position to chat to on MSN or yahoo...
I live in BC, Canada- is there anyone else from this area?
Anyhow, my msn is [email protected] if anyone would like to add me I'd love to talk. I've read about bipolar alot but I dont know anyone else who has it.
THanks for reading!! Janet
