What are your reasons for wanting to be admitted? Have you been in a psychiatric hospital before? Honestly, I don't think they do that much for you in the hospital. The most I can say is that they will keep you from harming yourself. But if a person is suicidal then it is a valuable place to be.
They give you meds, and have you go to group therapy. Some of the activities are almost childish, like they might have you color a picture. Generally you won't see a psychologist on a 1:1 basis, only in a group setting if they have a psychologist at all. The psychiatrist will spend about 5-10 minutes a day with you. Sometimes you get more individual help as an outpatient. Even if you voluntarily go to the hospital, you lose your freedom until you get out. Maybe other people have had a better hospital experience. I hope that if you do go to the hospital that you have a good experience.
