ive read alot about bi polar thought i was pretty well versed about it,ive come to realize i know nothing.my wife is bi polar,and has been irratic for years,recently she was put on meds,she also has lupus,takes many meds for that also,when she is at a low she is loving,at a high she is a wanderer,she will just run off,doing god knows what,when is the right time for me to get her more help?right now she is on a high,i moved out,very frustratd,dont know what to do,family physician recommends sh be put in a instite so they can get her on meds and get her stabilized,she has no idea what she is doing or the pain she shes causing people who love her,i want to help just dont know how

Hello again. If her doc suggests that she needs to get in the hospital to adjust her medications properly, I would try my best to encourage her to get there.

If she won't hear you now because of being on the high end you may have to wait until she comes down to be able to talk to her. You can't make anyone do anything that they are not wanting to do. But do at least try right now to talk to her and be calm about it and show her that you are really concerned for her at the moment and that you want to help her through this.

There isn't much you can do for a person if they refuse to take their meds. Unless they are a threat to themself or others. You'll probably have to wait till she down again to talk some sense into her. While she is on her high points, she probably won't listen to you or anyone else.
