Hi all,

I opened my e-mail this morning and a message from Connie Pawling was in my inbox.  My heart skipped a few beats and moved up into my throat.  Just a date in the message 3-4-05. 

I remember her as such a sweet breast friend.  I pray that she is enjoying the peace that she deserves.

I got it too, Candy! I was just looking at some pictures of our angels yesterday. Did you open the attachment? 

I sure miss our friends.

Yes, I remember the help she was with the knowledge she used to share with us.  That gal knew so much about this disease, treatment, etc.  She was a really wonderful resource.  I do miss her as well.

I saw that too, got it at home and work. Took me by surprise. I did not get that date, ooh, it takes my breath away...I was afraid some goofy virus got sent to us all from her old email address....the attachment was blank for me, so it made me nervous.

Wow, 2005, crazy. I hate this disease and miss all our fallen sisters...

I did not open it. I can not believe how my heart skipped a beat when I saw that. I do know one thing I have no clue who could have sent it. Her husband told me he had no time for computers and after finally getting her one, as some of you remember she put up with that web tv one for years, he was planning on letting her new one sit on the kitchen counter. I thought about opening it, and decided not to risk it, as I know no matter how much I wish Connie was still here to help us all with her great advice, sadly she is not and I can see nothing but problems with opening an attachment. One thing is for sure if it was meant to make us think of her, it served its purpose well. She was so special and should be thought of with gratitude. For those of you that never got to know her, even as she was making her last visits to the onc. she was asking questions for many of us that needed her advice. One thing she did was research and on many occasions she would find a treatment to insist they try on her. When asked about how much she studied breast cancer, her favorite saying was always the same. " Know your enemy".

I had to go to my other computer where I have Juno still connected and sure enough I found the email, too. I was brave and opened the window and all that was there was blue, a pretty aqua blue, not the blue screen of death as Jo-Ann calls it when the computer dies. I am running a Norton full scan now to make sure no virus is there. Right under that email from Connie's address was one sent a year ago from an old co-worker. I am sure I got the email last year from her, it was after we moved and I sent some pictures of the house. So something crazy was going on in space for sure.

Remember a few months after Peggy died I got an email from her. I called her mother and also talked to her son, trying to figure out if someone had used her computer and sent it by mistake. They both told me her computer had been turned off since she had died. I thought maybe someone who had had access to her computer and really knew their way around the computer world was playing mind games with me. But I never got an answer on that one, either.

It sure is strange and frightening. I think I will call Jo-Ann and see if she has any ideas.

I got it too, but mine has today's date on it. It came with an attachment. No way I am going to open the attachment. This is very wierd.

Missing Connie, too. On the village board I have picked up the use of her year and month (11 and 10 for me right now) signature and always add that it is in her loving memory. I can still see Connie with flowers in her hair in St. Louis (almost 8 years ago) doing lymph massage as Mikki demonstrated for us. What fun we had that weekend. I remember Joannie telling me I had a tender heart. And Chris H. holding her tummy after doing the electric slide at the bar where we ate on Saturday night. And all of us crowding around the bar for a group photo. Ah, so sad that so many are gone now. Feeling so blessed to have met them, Lauri (dxed 4/11/96)

I got it too, and found it very unsettling. There were several addressees who are no longer with us, so someone is messing with our old address information...might be worth pointing out to someone in a technical position on this board.

Stay warm, from snowy Ohio (the weather folks are discussing whether what we are now experiencing qualifies as a blizzard...)

Peg, no one is messing with us...I think that somehow her husband had an old email distribution list that does contain a lot of addresses from our fallen sisters....I just think that he used an old list and had no idea.

It was unsettling to see some old names though, it does make me sad.

Lauri, I have that picture here by my computer and it is tough sometimes,....to look at it and see who's gone. I also see a lot of gals who just faded into life....anyone hear from Kristi (KittyRitz) or DiVan**** lately, just to name a few?

Maybe this is an explanation. Heard from Deb W. who also got the mysterious message. She said it came on the anniversary of Connie's death. (Not sure how it got the 2005 date on it though.) She thinks Bob, Connie's husband, sent it out as a way of remembering Connie. Could be. Or maybe, as Deb sugggested, Connie is reaching out and letting us know she is still with us. That's a nice thought. Lauri
