Deep breaths, my dear. Deep breaths. Micro calcifications can be symptomatic that something is amiss -- but it is not necessarily so. I had calcifications under my lumpectomy incision four years after cancer diagnosis. Two biopsies were both negative. Sometimes those little specks are just there. Your doctor is being proactive and precautionary. Both are great reactions and you should be glad about that. Comparing current mammogram to previous ones is the first step in determining what this might be. If your doctor is still suspecious, an ultrasound may be ordered or a biopsy done. You (and your doctor) need to know if there is anything in the area of those calcifications that should not be there. Don't panic. Hi, Julie, hope you are managing to dig out from the snow. We got about 4-5 inches here on the north side of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. 15 inches must have slowed things down a lot. At least it will not last long.
