New radioactive tracer to detect BC

I read an article yesterday that they're finding really good results in a study comparing a radioactive tracer (MBI?) to the mammogram. It sounds similar to the bone scan or my thyroid scan stuff, a little injection and then the cells or areas of interest would light up with a special camera. Problem is that they are saying it requires a lot more radiation than a mammogram. Heck, I've had so much between my breast cancer diagnostics, rad therapy and now all my thyroid issues....I'll be able to light a runway soon!

But seriously, score one for the researchers! This is exciting stuff!

Hi friend,
I also heard about this treatment, my friend's wife had a breast cancer.Doctor trace using this equipment. And also read the article on that equipment. If it's work properly then we found solution of breast cancer during earlier stage of breast cancer.

This does sound promising. I'm all for anything to find this stuff as quickly as possible. We need a cure, too! And most of all we need to find out why BC has become such a problem. MK

I have heard of this recently, too. Since I am now learning about x-rays, CT (eventually), mammo, etc, I will keep you informed of anything I learn related to BC. There is something about a 3-D mammo in the testing stages, too.
